NSSC 2019 ends with a resounding sense of success"
The Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences, Pune (SSSS) successfully concluded the third edition of their annual flagship event National Sports Science Conference which was held from 29th August to 31st August 2019, here at the Symbiosis International University, Lavale. The three-day conference was host to some elite speakers, speaking about their experiences in the sports industry. Most prominent ones across the duration of the conference included renowned sports journalist Mr Ayaz Memon, CEO of Bengaluru FC, Mr Mandar Tamhane and the CEO of Baseline Ventures, Mr Tuhin Mishra, to name a few. The speakers addressed the audience on various topics ranging from experiential sports marketing to sports analytics to media and journalism and many more, which was followed by a quick Q&A session.
The conference also saw three panel discussions conducted which saw the panellists engage in an interactive session and share their views. The topic of the first discussion was "Business of Fitness in India" and speaking about the same were Mr Madhukar Talwalkar, Mr Nikhil Kakkar, Mr Tushar Ramanan and Ms Madhuri Ruia. Much was talked about the growth of the fitness industry and how the Indian population is responding to these methods and trends. The second panel discussion revolved around the topic "Fan Engagement, Teams and Leagues" which saw Mr Vinit Karnik, Mr Mandar Tamhane and Mr Neel Shah grace the stage where parallels from across the mentioned three fields in the topic were taken and deliberated upon, with respect to its on goings in India. The final panel discussion was centred about the "Development of Sports in India" and featuring as panellists for the same were Mr Hiren Mody, Mr Sunder Iyer and Ms Barbora Stankovicova. These industry stalwarts put forth their views and emphasised on points that they believe will be key for Indian sports going forward.
The NSSC 2019 also saw it come up with a first-of-its-kind sports start-up competition named "Bizdom", in association with Qatar Sports Tech and The Bridge. Four finalists battled multiple rounds to showcase that their idea was the best and, in the end, teams Acadware and Sparup were crowned joint winners of the competition. On an overall scale, NSSC 2019 proved to be a bigger and better than its previous edition and will be looking forward to making it an even grander success next year.
