The AIU West Zone Inter-University Women’s Badminton Championship 2025 was held
from 25th to 30th December 2025 at
Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Lavale Campus, Pune.
Hosted by the university and organized under the aegis of the
Association of Indian Universities ... , the
championship was
conducted by the Department of Sports, Recreation & Wellness (DSRW)
in collaboration with the Symbiosis School of Sport Science (SSSS).
The tournament brought together women athletes from universities across India’s
western region, providing a vibrant platform to showcase talent, teamwork,
sportsmanship, and competitive excellence. From 26th to 30th December,
the Lavale Campus resonated with high-energy matches, inspiring performances, and
a strong celebration of women in sport.
The entire event was successfully supported by dedicated student volunteers from
SSSS, whose commitment and efforts played a crucial role in the smooth
conduct and overall success of the championship.
The Sports Conclave 2025, hosted by Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences (SSSS),
brought together leaders, athletes, academicians, and students under one roof to exchange

The Symbiosis Sports Science Conference 2025, "Momentum 2025: Transforming Lives and Sports Together," was held on January 11, 2025, at the Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences. The event brought together industry leaders, academics, students, and sports enthusiasts to discuss innovative ideas and strategies shaping the future of sports in India. The event started with Saraswati Puja and a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. The director of Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences, Dr. Nayana Nimkar, then gave a welcome speech in which he highlighted the transformational potential of sports. Mr. Abhishek Binaykia, Partner at Grant Thornton Bharat LLP, gave the keynote address on "Building Towards Two Zero 36 - Let's Win Together." He talked about India's aspirations to host the Olympics and to be among the top five by 2036, emphasizing the value of technology, grassroots development, and sustainability. ... Two-panel discussions were the highlights of the day. Mr. Salil Acharya, Mr. Siddhant Agarwal, and Mr. Chintan Shah were panelists in the first, "The Role of Media in the Commercialization of Sport – A Game Changer," which was moderated by Mr. Siddharth Deshmukh. They looked at how technology and media are changing sports and increasing fan interaction. The second, "The 12th Man – Boosting Athlete Growth through Support Ecosystem," was moderated by Dr. Shiny Raizada, Faculty at the Symbiosis School of Sports Science, Ms. Varadayini Gorhe, Mr. Sonu Lamba, and Mr. Vishwas Walavalkar talked about career transitions, mental health, and holistic athlete development. A fireside chat on “Esports & Gaming – Road to Esports Olympics 2025” featured Ms. Madhurima Maniyara, Mr. Roby John, and Mr. Siddharth Deshmukh, who highlighted the growing potential of esports in India and the challenges of infrastructure and career opportunities. Guest speakers included Mr. Neel Shah, who spoke on “Your Dream Career” and emphasized aligning passion and purpose, and Mr. Aditya Datta, who shared insights on branding and innovation in his session, “The Passion Blueprint – Redefining Work and Success.” The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Parag Deshmukh, Faculty at the Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences, and the national anthem. The Symbiosis Sports Science Conference (SSSC) that took place on 24th February 2024 provided a comprehensive overview of the current landscape of sports development and technology in India. The event was inaugurated with grandeur by Mr. Rajiv Yeravdekar. As the conference set the stage for insightful discussions and exchange of ideas, the distinguished keynote speaker, Mr. Vinit Karnik, illuminated the audience with his expertise in the field. The conference unfolded into two dynamic panels, each addressing pivotal aspects of the sports industry. Panel One brought together esteemed figures including Parvin Dabas, Kunal Thakkur, Toshan Patil, and Siddharth Deshmukh, who shared their invaluable insights on the challenges and opportunities in various sports ... domains. Panel Two comprised luminaries such as Subramanian Ramakrishnan (Ramky), Prasanna Choudhari, Ujwal Deole, and Amit Gadkari, providing a comprehensive exploration of the transformative role of technology in sports development. The conference reached its pinnacle with a compelling valedictory address by Saumil Majmudar, offering a profound perspective on the significance of sports in the holistic development of individuals. The surge in interest and investment in sports, ranging from traditional games like Panja to global favorites like tennis, football, cricket, and emerging phenomena like E-sports and kabaddi, was a central theme alongwith the role of technology in Empowering Sports Development. The conference gathered insights from experts in the field, shedding light on challenges and opportunities in the Indian sports industry. The discussions on challenges such as sponsorship, player involvement, and fan engagement provided valuable insights into the potential for growth. The role of technology emerged as a transformative force, not only in venue management and analytics but also in making sports education and mental conditioning accessible. The conference showcased a holistic vision for sports development, emphasizing the need for a balanced approach that includes both traditional and emerging sports, coupled with technological advancements, to create a thriving ecosystem for athletes, fans, and investors alike. Together, these eminent personalities steered the conference towards a holistic understanding of the evolving sports landscape in India.
Living up to our tradition, the Company Auction 7.0 at the Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences was a huge success with loads of joy, drama, excitement, and nervousness. It was very challenging for every company to create a good roster of Juniors who will continue the teams' legacy. Kraken Synergies made the highest bid followed by the Spartans and the Stallions. All in all, each team looked satisfied with their picks at the end. We would also like to thank our respected Director Nayana Ma'am, Faculty members, and the notable Alumnis present offline as well as online who enlightened the event with their valuable presence.
The Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences, Pune (SSSS) successfully concluded the fifth edition of their annual flagship event National Sports Science Conference (NSSC) spread across two days i.e. on 28th August & 4th September 2021 through the online mode of 'Zoom'. The theme of the conference was "Mission 2024". The conference had prominent guests as Mr Neel Shah (Head Sports Education & New Business, GISB), Mr Rishikesh Joshi (Founder of "Sports For All"), Mr Yatin Shriwardhankar (Sports Consultant, General Manager – Lakshya Sports) & Mr Vishwas Walavalkar (Founder and Owner of "StudioWally Sports Science Company"). SSSS had kept three different tracks for Research Paper presentations across all the two days. There were more than 130 participants who have attended the conference and with 68 research paper presentations, NSSC 2021 was deemed to be a great success.
On this very special occasion of the 2022 Convocation Ceremony, Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences are pleased to welcome all the pass outs of the 20-22 batch at the campus for this exciting day.

With the year 2022 coming to a close, let's talk about our student's experience at the global stage in this week's #ThrowbackThursday. Spain were crowned as champions of the U17 FIFA Womens World Cup 2022 which was hosted in India for the very first time. Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences is honoured to mention the presence of its students at the prestigious event.
The batch of 2021-23 interned and volunteered at the mega event which was played at the three venues - the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar (Odisha), the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao (Goa) and the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai (Maharashtra). The students contributed across several departments like training site, marketing, overlays, hospitality, protocol, infotainment, etc. Notable mentions to our alumnus Nikhil Jakob, Akankshya Bhuyan, and Roshan Shetty who held managerial positions to ensure smooth functioning and grand success of the event.
It is with great pride that we recognize the success of our students who completed their internship in events despite obstacles and challenges by setting up standards and an example for everyone. In September 2022, the first Ultimate Kho-Kho league was held with students from SSSS working in various departments, including Venue operations, PR, and Media, while our alumni worked at the managerial level to ensure the event's success. Our mitti ka khel Kabaddi is getting recognized and many events are being held, Yuva kabaddi series and real kabaddi had the indulgence of our students.
Over the course of the National Games, which began on 27th September 2022 and ended on 11th October 2022, 13 students from Batch 2021-23 gained experience working as Assistant Venue and Volunteer Managers across six different venues.
As FIFA is the biggest football event in the world, it provided the perfect opportunity for our students to volunteer across departments and gain an understanding of the work that goes into organizing such a mega event. As part of the event's success, Blades of glory was one more addition to our students who played an important role.
"Developing the passion of learning will always help in the growth", Our students were a part of the World football summit which was an interactive conference held in Sevia, Spain. This study tour gave aspiring sports management students the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the European Football Industry through practical experience.

The Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences, Pune (SSSS) successfully concluded the fourth edition of their annual flagship event National Sports Science Conference (NSSC) from 28 - 30 July 2020 on an online mode. The theme of the conference was "Research Methods in Sports Management". Along with eminent guest speakers Mr. Jitendra Joshi (Founder, Sports Village) and Mr. Hoshedar Gundevia (Head Of Digital, IMG Reliance), as a special feature for this edition, SSSS had kept two different tracks for Research Paper presentations across all the three days. There were a total of 140 participants who have attended the conference. With more than 60 research paper presentations, NSSC 2020 was conducted successfully emphasizing the importance of research. The selected papers therein were published in SCOPUS indexed Journals.
On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences along with DSRW participated in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on 02nd October 2020.
Our Industry Head Siddharth Deshmukh conducted #LetsTalkSports with Sid Deshmukh, an interview series with the industry experts.
These interviews were sessions that he conducted with athletes, administrators, coaches, and other eminent stakeholders from the sport and sport-related industry. Initiated in June 2020 this series is ongoing, until October 2020.
An E-induction programme for the fifth batch of MBA (SM) was conducted from 15 July 2020 to 31 July 2020. The objective of this orientation session is to set the context for the program and help the students acquaint themselves with the rigors of academics.
The Director presided over the session by welcoming and briefing the students about the Institute. All the faculty members and staff of SSSS were introduced to the students. During the Induction, many renowned professionals from the sports and fitness industry were invited who gave them a broad understanding of the students' chosen profession with reference to the sports ecosystem in India. Online sessions by the Symbicare team and Symbiosis Centre for Emotional Wellbeing and Symbiosis Centre for International Education were also conducted to inform students about the functions of these departments and the welfare measures for the students.
Placements & Alumni Connect Team conducted 'Back to Campus series with SSSS’ - a program that had the alumni interacting with the current and upcoming batches about their current work & learnings.
The objective was to build the alumni connect and positively influence the students across all the batches (2016 to 2020), by getting them together on a single virtual platform.
Corporate Relations Team successfully conducted Sports Webinar Week from 28th April 20 to 3rd May 20 where eminent speakers from the sports industry were invited. The webinar was also hosted on Symbiosis School of Sports Science Facebook page for the benefit of the sports enthusiastic students of SSSS as well as the enthusiastic sports community outside of SSSS.
After the successful implementation of the Sports Webinar Week, CR Team the team also conducted weekly sessions with industry experts, over the month of May and June 2020.
Due to the COVID -19 pandemic, the valedictory function for the Batch 2018-20 was conducted online on 10 May 2020. Mr. Vinit Karnik, Business Head, GroupM’s ESP Properties, was the guest speaker and he shared valuable insights on the 'Sports Industry after COVID-19'. All the students from both batches, faculty members, visiting faculty, and staff attended the E-Valedictory ceremony. The students who performed well in academics, sports, curricular and extra-curricular activities were awarded with certificates and reminisced about the journey of their batch in these two years at SSSS. The ceremony ended with a nostalgic presentation capturing the glimpses of the life of students at SSSS.
The Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences, Pune (SSSS) successfully concluded the third edition of their annual flagship event, the National Sports Science Conference (NSSC) from 29 - 31 August 2019 at the Symbiosis International University, Lavale Hill Top campus. The theme of the event was “Evolving Sports Ecosystem in India” where various people from the sporting ecosystem were invited. Prominent names across the duration of the Conference included renowned Chess player Mr. Abhijit Kunte (Chess Grand Master), Mr. Madhukar Talwalkar (Founder, Talwalkars Better Value Fitness Limited), Mr. Ayaz Memon, Mr. Mandar Tamhane (CEO of Bengaluru FC Pvt. Ltd) and Mr. Tuhin Mishra (Co-founder & Managing director of Baseline Ventures) to name a few of the 20 plus eminent speakers. The speakers addressed the audience on various topics ranging from experiential sports marketing, sports analytics, media & journalism and many more, which were punctuated with purposeful ‘Q & A’ sessions. There were a total of 150 participants who have attended the conference.
The second National Sports Science Congress (NSSC) was held on February 2, 2019 at the Symbiosis International University, Lavale Hill Top campus with 137 participants. The theme of the event was “Future of Business of Sports in India” where various people from the sporting ecosystem were invited. Amidst the senior and junior batches of the institution and seven brilliant speakers lined up for a series of talks for the Congress, the build-up was nothing short of exhilarating. Eminent speakers such as Mr. Jayanth Kolla (Co-founder, Convergence Catalyst), Mr. Deep Mukherjee (CEO C11, National Community of Sports & Sr. Vice President, Head of Sports Development, Star India), Mr. Jitendra Singh Naruka (Former Vice-Chancellor, LNIPE), Mr. Udit Sheth (Founder and Managing Director, TransStadia), Ms. Deepthi Bopaiah (Executive Director, GoSports Foundation), Mr. Lokesh Suji (Founder - Indian League Gaming | Director - Esports Federation of India | VP-South Asia: Asian Esports Federation), Mr. Yugal Kishore Sharma (CEO, ONEOTT iNTERTAINMENT LTD. IN ENTERTAINMENT INDIA LTD) shared their experience and knowledge on various topics.
The most happening academic activity at SSSS is the Auctions. It is the annual flagship event of SSSSS under Company Simulation Program which is organized every year to uproot the stage fear of the students as well as to enhance the thinking and planning ability of the students.
The students of Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences, Pune organized Khelo Pune, a sports fest for school children in rural areas on 1st October 2019 at Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Lavale. The event was jointly organized with the Department of Sports Recreation and Wellness, SIU as a part of the social responsibility project.
The objective of the programme was to provide an opportunity for school children from a rural background to participate in physical activities and make them understand the importance of staying fit & healthy and to provide hands-on experience to the students of SSSS in managing such type of events.
The fest witnessed participation from three Zila Parishad schools in Sus, lavale and Bavdhan villages of Pune adopted by Symbiosis International (Deemed University). There were around 300 school children of 5th, 6th and 7th standard who participated in the fun-filled activities/games like Zumba, Parachute, Relay races (Ball and Hoops), Football match and Dodge ball. Every child of the school was active for these 5 hrs. The school authorities appreciated the efforts of the MBA (SM) students of SSSS and were encouraged to carry on these activities in their school.

To develop the global competencies and prepare students for sports industry outside, they are given International exposure by encouraging them to participate in World Football Summit, Madrid.
The foundation day of SSSS is celebrated every year on 23rd August.
The students of cultural committee at the Institute organize various academic and extra-curricular activities on this occasion.
SSSS celebrates International Day of Yoga every year on 21st June organized by Department of Sports Recreation and Wellness. The students and staff of SSSS performs various Asanas and meditation on this occasion.
An orientation program is organized for the new batch every year. The orientation sets the context for the rest of the program and helps the students to acquaint themselves with the rigors of academics.
The last event in the life of any graduating student, the valedictory ceremony is conducted every year in the month of March.
A unique event called Dikshant is also organized to inculcate the human values and national integrity in the students. Indeed, a time of mixed emotions where students promise to be in touch with each other outside the boundaries of the Institute.
The Khelo India program has been introduced to revive the sports culture in India at the grassroots level by building a strong framework for all the sports played in our country and establish India as a great sporting nation. A Government of India initiative, the Khelo administration model is an inclusive one and Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences was intrinsic to 'Khelo India 2019', as a significant stakeholder.
Our students participated as interns as well as volunteers. The interns worked with SAI as the State liaison officers (SLO) where one State was owned by one SLO. Responsible for State coordination, they were mapped to the Chef de Mission (CDM) of the State, to guide and support the CDM in the critical areas of accommodation, transport, games schedule, accreditation of the players - to name a few. Volunteers, who played a decisive role in the success of KIYG 2019, Maharashtra underwent an orientation and training program to impart the values of the Games and divided in to eighteen functional teams ranging from transportation, catering, sports presentation prep, spectator management, marketing, branding & activation, venue overalays et al. This gave them an elaborate and complete view of the administrative and governance of the event. SSSS was one of the five colleges in Pune, to be chosen for sending a team of interns and volunteers for the Games and the students came back richer with the experience and learning. The helped achieve the twin objective of demonstrating and articulating value to the students of the marquee events world as also have an insight into probable areas for career choice.

Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences (SSSS) organized the first National Sports Science Congress at the Symbiosis International University, Lavale, Hill Top campus on September 23, 2016, with 188 participants. The theme 'Trends in Sports Science' focused on important disciplines and topics within sport sciences. Invited speakers highlighted different viewpoints on specific topics in order to summarize existing knowledge as also help ideate new approaches in the field of sport. The objective of Congress was to promote technological innovation, facilitate the exchange of expert knowledge and emphasize the need for strengthening the Indian sports network. On this occasion, the University felicitated and honoured the team of Olympians from Maharashtra who qualified for the Rio Olympics. These included Ms Kavita Raut (Athletics), Ms Prarthana Thombare (Tennis), Ms Lalita Babar (Athletics), Mr. Dattu Bhoknal (Rowing) and Mr. Devendra Valmiki (Hockey). Dr. J.S. Sandhu, Secretary University Grants Commission, New Delhi was the Guest of Honour.
